DAR ES SALAAM: CRDB Bank has said it is committed to enhancing the use of digital technology in making various transactions to promote a cashless and digital economy in the country.

CRDB’s Head of Retail Banking Mr Stephen Adili said in Dar es Salaam recently when handing over a new brand car to a winner of the campaign to encourage the use of digital transaction platforms.

“Currently, 95 per cent of the CRDB transactions are carried through digital platforms, with Simbanking taking a lion’s share,” he said adding it is hard to escape the global trend of the digital economy.

He said the campaign also intends to eliminate the use of cash and has been the pivotal key towards the promotion.

During the draw, the bank’s customer Mr Nickson Kiungo emerged a winner through the bank’s Simbanking campaign aimed to create a culture of digital use in financial services.

“The public should not be left behind…we must adhere to these changes. It is inevitable,” said Mr Adili at the event of handing over the vehicle to a draw winner.

Speaking about the bank’s initiatives to bolster the digital economy, Mr Adili said the bank is committed to enhancing digital transactions in the country and through prizes set aside will encourage more transactions.
